Eight Chinese medical schools have been delisted from the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDMS), a year after Oriental medical schools in Korea failed to be listed on the directory.
The Korean Medical Association (KMA)’s Research Institute for Medical Policy said on Wednesday that the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) deleted eight Chinese medical schools from WDMS.
The eight delisted Chinese medical schools are Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
According to the KMA, WFME delisted Korean Oriental medical schools from the world directory in 2012. In a January meeting in Singapore, WFME reaffirmed that Oriental medical schools in Korea could not be listed on the register.
“The WFME’s decisions clearly show that the world’s medical community does not recognize both Korea’s Oriental medicine and traditional Chinese medicine as modern medicine,” KMA said.
“Traditional medicine that cannot be verified objectively and scientifically has no place to stand anymore. Their nonsensical claim that traditional medicine has been verified because of its long history does not appeal to the international community,” it added.
The KMA urged the government to stop supporting Oriental medicine, discontinue wasting tax payer’s money, and come forth to verify all the practices of Oriental medicine.

而经过到官网查验，上述 8 所学校确实也已经不在榜单上了，从而也引发了中医学类毕业生能否可以继续出国深造的担忧。
11 月 6 日，大韩医师协会通过医疗政策研究所得到确认，世界医学教育联合会 (World Federation for Medical Education, WFME) 将中国的 8 所纯中医药大学从世界医学院校名录 (The World Directory ofMedical Schools, WDMS) 中已删除。
8 所中医药大学名称：
1、北京中医药大学；
2、贵阳中医药大学；
3、黑龙江中医药大学；
4、辽宁中医药大学；
5、上海中医药大学；
6、山西中医药大学；
7、天津中医药大学；
8、云南中医药大学。
北京中医药大学校友会也对此事做出了回应：
各位校友：
近日，世界医学院校名录（World Directory of Medical Schools, WDMS）变更；由此，包括我校在内的部分中医药院校不在变更后的医学院校名单中。对于此事，母校高度关注，第一时间与相关组织和机构进行了沟通协调。
经了解，过去世界卫生组织（WHO）在管理《世界医学院校名录》(WDMS)时，把传统医学院校（中医院校）与西医院校并列。然而， WFME 在接管 WDMS 后，对此做法改变了，即现在 WDMS 只收录开办西医临床医学专业医学院校，而不把中医等传统医学列入此名录。但是，这并不表明世界卫生组织不承认只开办中医临床专业中医院校的医学院校地位。
母校非常关注海外校友的职业发展，就此问题，已经在第一时间与国内临床医学专业认证机构和国外相关机构沟通协调，此事正在持续努力的过程中，但是需要时间，请校友理解。最后，感谢各位校友对母校的关注！
据称，被除名的原因是WDMS认为获得中医医学学位的毕业生不能直接进入临床工作，而提供这一依据的机构是教育部临床专业认证委员会。
WDMS 到底是什么呢？
根据世界卫生组织官网消息（注意中文版有滞后）：
WDMS 最先由 WHO 发布，曾经转移至阿维森纳医学名录，由哥本哈根大学与世界卫生组织和世界医学教育联合会合作维护。WDMS 所定义的「医学院」是指能够提供一套完整的教育方案，使得学生获得执业医师执照的教育机构。本次剔除可能是因为定位于传统医学和现代医学的区别，引用大韩医师协会的观点：此举证明了世界医学界不认为韩国的韩医学和中国的中医学等传统医学是现代医学。
目前已不再转移至阿维森纳医学名录，而是由世界医学教育联合会（WFME）和国际医学教育和研究促进基金会（FAIMER）共同维护的新版 WDMS。
世卫组织英文版
中医学，一直是一个饱受争议的话题，互联网上相关的讨论更是铺天盖地，各方观点交织错综。目前首都地区被收录的中医院校只剩下中国中医科学院、北京针灸骨伤学院和首都医科大学中医药学院。但是北京针灸骨伤学院早已与北京中医药大学合并，对中国中医科学院也仅承认1999年以前的毕业生。也就是说，现在北京只有首医的中医毕业生能够获得世界认可。8所中医药大学被除名意味着这些学校的留学生毕业后回国可能不会得到认可，无法开展医疗行为。同样，这8所学校毕业的学生也可能无法使用毕业证去西方国家考取行医执照，中医药在海外的传播将受到极大阻碍。
